Organ Recital Series

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church is hosting a series of monthly organ recitals during the 2009-2010 season in order to promote sacred music in Mankato’s downtown district of arts and culture.  Along with guest musicians from the parish and community, Nicholas Schmelter, Director of Music, will perform recitals on the west gallery’s fifty-nine rank, three-manual organ built by the Hendrickson Organ Company of Saint Peter, Minnesota, in 1978.

All programs are free to the public; however, a free-will offering will be taken following each recital to support the ongoing ministry of the parish’s music ministries.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, which was built in the 1870s for the region’s population of German immigrants, is located at 105 North Fifth Street in historic downtown Mankato.  Fr. Mariano Varela, IVE, is the parish’s pastor.  If you would like more information about the recital series, please contact the music department at the parish office center, (507) 388-2995, ext. 102, or by e-mail, ssppmusic@hickorytech.net.
